Heli

Hailing originally from Finland I’m very much inspired to blend simple functional design and elegant aesthetics – Two things which exist in harmony in both countries I can call ‘home’.

My collection consists of Animal and animal activist friendly ‘fur’ coats & accessories for modern day princesses and queens, inspired by the time of the Vikings. Back then, lined Rya Rugs were worn by Viking soldiers travelling the high seas, who wrapped them around themselves instead of animal skins as the airy woollen rug was lightweight and kept them warm even when a swollen sea soaked them with salty water.
I wanted to develop this ancient warriors’ uniform into a more fitting garment which is like a fur coat in terms of its performance. The difference is in the detail, animal friendliness and the feel of materials chosen.
I also create wonderfully detailed tufted accessories (collars, hats, etc) and interior textiles (cushions, wall hangings, mats) crafted from wool and recycled materials.

In my coats I have made my dream of creating functional fashion true. Many of my designs are convertible, allowing one garment to take up to 3 difference forms. Under the tuft, in the horizontal cuts I hide zippers which are used to adjust the length of the hem or the sleeves to make one coat go with anything and anytime!

Every piece of my work is hand made in my workshop in pittorescy Enniskerry village, in County Wicklow in Ireland and each piece is named individually – with a story that, in these tough times, is to give the wearer of the garment positive thoughts about herself.

Environmental things are very important to me. Each of my product comes with a logo’d garment bag handmade from recycled home textiles. My work will also clearly show my love for the animal kingdom, so in addition to creating animal friendly products, I contribute a percentage of the retail price of every product sold to the WSPA, the World Society for protecting Animals.
